Memphis Nosh: Another Broken Egg Cafe

So I have both great and terrible luck sometimes.

A few months ago, my car just...died...on the interstate. Going 80 then BAM! total shut down.

Unfortunately it was the timing belt, which had snapped and basically shredded my engine.

Fortunately, the timing belt was part of a faulty part recall that the seller had neglected to mention to my mechanic, so they replaced my engine, basically for free.

Hooray!

So I pick up my car on a Friday, and the next Wednesday Sloan and I are going to get some keys made. We park. We start to get out. And BAM! the guy parked next to me backs up and slams into the side of my car with his giant truck, crushing in both passenger side doors.

Thankfully he stopped, and after 3 months of working with insurance companies and body shops and car rental people I have my car back.

All this is to say that some days, you just desperately need a mimosa.

A big ass mimosa.

Thank god for Another Broken Egg Cafe, where we went after exchanging information with the guy who hit me. Amazing food, huge and strong and wonderful mimosas, and a waiter who didn't judge me when the first words I said were "Some guy just hit my fucking car and I need the biggest mimosa you have."

I'm a delight.

Behold, the wonder and the glory. Fresh squeezed, huge, super strong. Oh yes.

They also have great coffee in these adorable mugs.

Since Sloan said it probably wasn't a good idea for me to drink all my meals that day, let's talk about food.

The menu is HUGE and everything looks amazing. I settled on a combination of all my favorite things - waffles, bacon, cheese, and butter.

Sloan, who has a serious chorizo addiction, got the Bacquezo, a massive omelette filled to the brim with deliciousness.

When our food came, I knew it wasn't just the mimosas that were going to make me happy.

So much great food, and the best breakfast potatoes I've ever had.

I definitely recommend Another Broken Egg. They're opening a second location soon, which is fantastic, since they were super busy when we went and could definitely have used some more space. The service was great though, and I left much happier than I came in.

And my car is, thankfully, back in my driveway.
